FACEBOOK, CREATE NGO TO PROMOTE CONFIDENCE IN JOURNALISM SINCE FALSE NEWS GAIN PROMINENCE IN SOCIAL NETWORKS
Many companies in technology and information are extremely concerned by the news which spread in social networks some of them are false but gained prominence, this leads to misinformation and distrust of journalism in users.
That is why a group of leaders like Facebook, Mozilla, the Ford Foundation, the signature technological AppNexus, among others, have created a 14-million Fund to support the creation of the NGO News Integrity Initiative, this way will promote “information literacy and the increase of confidence in journalism”.
According to the latest polls show the little confidence that you have the public to the media, should be noted that this had great relevance in the last elections in the United States, therefore, are trying to improve the service.
Also the harsh criticism of the now President Donald Trump that instructs journalists as “the world’s most dishonest people” and that the media are “the greatest enemy of the people” all this contributes to the distrust of the users.
The creation of the NGO News Integrity Initiative non-profit will feature researchers, special projects and work independently of the school of journalism, its main objective is
-Improve the knowledge of the news (that the news published is true)
-Contribute to increase the public’s confidence in the media
It is hoped that this project features this month, although an exact date has not been.
According to Facebook, they indicate that one of the measures you are taking is that the user who attempts to publish any news on social networks will you a message indicating the information has not been verified, this measure will have better control.
It shows the intention of Facebook, Google and Twitter to improve and to eradicate the contents of little veracity.
